Where tradition meets today.
Hi, I’m Tess — the founder and artist behind Mary Jean Co.
Growing up, I was surrounded by strong, creative women who taught me the value of making things with love and intention. At a young age, my grandmother, Mary Jean, taught me to thread a needle, use a sewing machine, decorate a home, and appreciate the joy of making something with my hands. She was always working on quilting, knitting mittens for us grandkids, or decorating her home. Some of my favorite pieces she crafted for me was clothes for my American Girl Dolls, and her quilts that I display in my own home today.
My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. This prevented her from being able to teach me further, so I had to begin teaching myself. Knitting was something I had always watched her do when I was growing up, and now it is something she watches me do.
I am a big believer of seasonal decor — I thank my grandma and my mom for that.
Mary Jean Co. is my way of honoring these two incredible women who shaped who I am today. Every piece I make is a tribute to their legacy — a blend of old traditions and new ideas, rooted in love and family.
From cozy knitted decor and soft textiles to hand-painted art and custom pieces, each item is designed to help you create a home that feels warm, welcoming, and deeply personal. I believe that handmade pieces carry stories that no factory-made object ever could. They remind us of the people we love, the places we’ve been, and the moments that truly matter. Your home should represent you.
Thank you for being here and for supporting this dream of mine. I hope that each piece you bring into your home helps you tell your own story and makes your space feel just a little bit more like you.
With love,
Tess
I have always been taught tradition from a very young age. Family is everything to me, which is why this brand is so important to me. It represents the women who have raised me and taught me how to be a woman.
I love spending time at my grandparents’ house flipping through old photo albums and hearing a story with every photo. Her home is filled with character; quilt racks, family photos, knit afghans, and wood work projects from my grandpa.
My mother carried that same artistic ability forward. She showed me how to bring creativity into every part of life — from celebrating the smallest milestones to making every corner of our home feel special. She taught me how to make a house a home. When I wsa younger, all we did was crafts. We loved coming up with new ideas or finding things to create.
My Aunt Lori and I love to go to estate sales and source vintage finds for our homes. She has great taste and is always sending me things we should do to our homes or with our family.
